What is Copilot Cowork?
Copilot Cowork is Microsoft's agentic AI system inside Microsoft 365 Copilot, generally available worldwide since June 2026. Instead of producing a draft for you to finish, Cowork takes a task described in plain language, plans the steps, and delivers a completed result — a report, a presentation, a data summary—grounded in the systems your business already runs on.
What it does differently from standard Copilot Chat:
- Executes, not just drafts. You define the task; Cowork runs it end-to-end and returns a finished deliverable.
- Picks the right model for the job. Cowork can select between OpenAI's GPT-5.5 for deep research with citations and Anthropic's Claude models for visual and presentation work.
- Connects to your business systems. A growing plugin library, including Miro, monday.com, Morningstar and others, means work reflects real organisational context, not just what's in the prompt.
- Keeps you informed without babysitting the task. Push notifications flag approvals, input requests, and completions on long-running work.
