Is your organisation currently struggling with managing scattered documents, enabling seamless team collaboration, and ensuring regulatory compliance using siloed systems?

Our Microsoft SharePoint Document Management System (DMS), enhanced with iWorkplace, combines the power of SharePoint with advanced information governance tools.

This means your organisation gains a centralised, easy-to-use document platform and a system designed to help you meet records management and regulatory obligations without adding admin overhead.

As a strategic partner reseller of iWorkplace, Professional Advantage provides Australian organisations with access to a robust solution for teams that need to modernise document control, maintain compliance, and improve collaboration in one integrated platform.

SharePoint + iWorkplace:
The Best Document Management Platform

Australian organisations are benefiting from using the combined capabilities of SharePoint and iWorkplace for their document management needs with:

Centralised, compliant document control

Store all your documents in one secure, governed repository.

Intelligent search with metadata

Find the document quickly while maintaining consistent data classification.

Automated compliance policies

Retention, disposal, and audit trails are built in, reducing manual effort.

Role-based permissions

Protect sensitive information with controlled access at every level.

Australian data residency

Keep your data within Australia for privacy and legal compliance.

Version control with governance

Track every change and ensure approved content remains authoritative.

The Compliance Advantage of your
SharePoint DMS with iWorkplace

Most document management systems store files. Ours actively manages them in line with your compliance needs. By integrating iWorkplace into SharePoint, we help you:

  1. Automate retention and disposal based on classification rules.
  2. Enforce consistent naming and metadata for all records.
  3. Meet Privacy Act, ISO 15489, GDPR, and other data handling regulatory standards.
  4. Minimise compliance risk by reducing human error in document handling.
  5. Generate audit-ready reports in minutes.

With this approach, your DMS isn’t just a collaboration tool. It’s a compliance engine that works quietly in the background, so your staff can focus on their jobs instead of managing records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the top frequently asked questions about Microsoft SharePoint. You can find the complete list here.

Does SharePoint support ISO 27001 document control?

Yes, SharePoint supports ISO 27001 document control requirements, but with some configuration and governance policies in place. Microsoft SharePoint Online is not an ISO 27001 certification tool by itself, but it provides the capabilities you need to meet document control clauses under Annex A.7 and A.8 of ISO/IEC 27001.

What can help your organisation meet several requirements for ISO 27001 is iWorkplace, especially around information governance, document control and compliance processes.

See below a summary of its capabilities on how iWorkplace supports ISO 27001 compliance:

ISO 27001 Area

iWorkplace Capability

Documented Information Control

Policy libraries, workflows, and versioning.

Access Control

Role-based permissions, Microsoft Entra integration.

Classification & Labelling

Metadata tagging, labels, and DLP support.

Lifecycle & Retention

Purview retention integration, archival tools.

Evidence for Audits

Audit trails, logs, and reporting.

Note: While iWorkplace helps you implement controls required by ISO 27001, your people, policies, and governance still play a critical role. Certification depends on how the platform is configured, used, and governed, not just the tools alone.

Yes, SharePoint can meet Australian data privacy and residency requirements, especially when hosted through Microsoft 365 with Australian data centres. However, please note that compliance is a shared responsibility. Microsoft provides the tools and infrastructure, while your organisation must configure them appropriately and govern data use effectively.

Microsoft’s commitment to Australian data privacy includes:

  • Data residency in Australia for Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint Online, through New South Wales and Victoria data centres.
  • Adherence to the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) requirements under the Australian Privacy Act 1988.
  • Assessment against the Information Security Registered Assessors Program (IRAP), which aligns with the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and ISM controls.

In Australia, SharePoint Online data for Microsoft 365 is stored in Microsoft's Australia data centre regions, specifically Australia East (New South Wales) and Australia Southeast (Victoria), collectively known as Australia Geo.

If your Microsoft 365 tenant is provisioned in the Australia Geo, the following SharePoint-related data is stored locally:

  • SharePoint Online site content (documents, lists, metadata, etc.).
  • OneDrive for Business files (tied to SharePoint under the hood).
  • Microsoft Teams files (stored in SharePoint libraries).
  • SharePoint site collections and document libraries.

This storage complies with Microsoft’s data residency commitments, ensuring the data remains within Australia for core Microsoft 365 services.

Your files can be synced locally on your PC. Changes made to your documents will be synched the next time you go online.

Yes you can. SharePoint is built with collaboration in mind not just for internal users but for external parties as well such as customers or suppliers.
