Hack Day

Dynamics GP & Infor Sunsystems Hack Day

Bring your business data and we work together to build visualisations you can analyse back at the office.

  • Work alongside our GP and SunSystems* Consultants to create your own Power BI project using your business data.
  • Exchange ideas with users from other companies, share experiences and learn about how others work with Power BI.

Who Should Attend?

This course is primarily for users of Microsoft Dynamics GP and Infor SunSystems* who want to use Power BI to build dashboards and connect, combine, and transform data into their business systems.

You will need to have prior Power BI experience in order to attend the Hack Day.

North Sydney - for Dynamics GP & Infor SunSystems users

Melbourne - for Dynamics GP users only

The Hack Day is primarily aimed at Dynamics GP and Infor SunSystems users as we will have Application Consultants present to assist with specific table and data questions. However, if you are accessing other systems and have attended the training or are wanting to improve your Power BI skills, you are welcome to attend. The Melbourne Hack Day will be primarily for Dynamics GP users only.

To attend the hack day, you will need to first complete our 2-day introductory Power BI Training. This training session will equip you with the Power BI skills required to prepare you for the Hack Day.

You can register your interest for the intensive 2-day Power BI Training course here.

If you are already an experienced Power BI user, you may register for the Hack Day only.

What to bring?

For the Hack Day, we will provide you with a desktop to use with Power BI installed. However, if you wish to bring a laptop, please ensure it has sufficient permissions to install the Power BI Desktop software. Some organisations lock down installation permissions on their PCs so you may need to work with your IT department and pre-install the Power BI Desktop software prior to the training.

If you use Windows 10, we recommend installing Power BI from the Windows store. Alternatively, you can download Power BI Desktophere.

It is best to bring along your data in Excel form so you can connect to it easily. This may mean extracting GP Smartlist or other data prior to the Hack Day.

An alternative is to access your data remotely with Power BI. This includes the following:

  • Remotely access your site (by RDP, VPN or Citrix)
  • Have Power BI desktop installed on your site to access remotely
  • Have a SQL read-only user created to access the data i.e. PowerBIReader

If you are unable to bring your own data, you can connect to our sample GP data.

"The instructor has good knowledge of Power BI and SQL, gave honest advice about the critical steps for data manipulation in Power BI. Greg helped me learn how to do selective slicer using DAX, which I found from website but I wasn’t sure how to do it."
