Microsoft announced last week at it's Worldwide Partner
Conference in Denver the future road map for Dynamics
GP.
The major goal
of Microsoft’s product development road map is to help protect the
investments of customers by helping them gradually move to the new
Microsoft Dynamics platform while realizing the benefits of
breakthrough technology innovations along the way.
Microsoft’s
aggressive road map showcases the continued investment in and focus
on Microsoft Dynamics GP. Since 2005, Microsoft has been on a 12-18
months major release cycle. Beginning with Microsoft Dynamics GP
11.0, there will be a transition to a 2-year major release cycle,
with an extension release between versions. Individual product lines
within the Microsoft Dynamics solutions family will continue until
at least 2013.
Key development
pillars continue to focus on driving maximum benefit for customers
in the areas of: ease of use, easy integration with other systems,
empowered users and informed enterprise. Focus on these development
areas is aided by the tremendous synergy of other Microsoft
Technologies, specifically: Microsoft SQL server, the Microsoft
Office system and Office SharePoint Server 2007.
What does this
mean to you as a customer? It means a clear roadmap and greater
reassurance about Microsoft’s commitment to your technology future.
